American Online Roulette Guide What is American Roulette?
Leave France, cross the Atlantic, enter a casino and you'll find the roulette table looks pretty much like the one you've always known. Well you'd be right, they're virtually identical. But what makes American Roulette different from other variations is the fact that the American Roulette wheel has thirty-eight pockets, including a 0 , a double 00 and the numbers 1 through 36. Another name for American Roulette is "Double Zero Roulette." This zero and double zero discrepancy moves the the house advantage from 2.7% with the European Wheel to 5.26% on the American Roulette Wheel.
If a player bets on a single number in the American game there is a probability of 1/38 that the player wins 35 times the bet. Compare that to European roulette where a single number wins 1/37 and loses 36/37. How To Play American Roulette
Playing American Roulette is no different from playing the standard or European game except for the Double Zero added to the wheel. Betting is carried in the same way. See our 'How To Place Your Bets Guide' shown below for more about roulette betting. Zero and Double Zero Rule
Also known as the 'En Prison' Rule. When the ball lands on "zero" or "double zero", wagers on red, black, odd, even, 1 to 18, and 19 to 36 are not entirely lost. Instead, each player having made such a bet will lose only half of the original amount bet. For example, if a player places a bet of $10 on red and a double zero is rolled, the player will lose $5 and be able to remove the other $5 from the table. Not all casinos offer this rule though so check before you play. If you'd like a good one that does then try InterCasino. Try It Free! Click the Chips to Play.
