Standard Roulette Bets and Betting Guide

There are a number of different systems for betting at roulette but to start with we'll concentrate here on the straightforward standard betting methods. If you're new to playing roulette then this is where you begin to learn how the game is really played.

Types of Bets

There are 8 different types of roulette bets called inside our outside bets.
Each bet covers a different set of numbers and has different winning odds attached to it ranging from evens up to 35 to 1.

Lets deals with Inside Bets first of which there are five types.

1. The Straight Up Bet:
A chip can be wagered on any individual number, including zero (0).
The chip is placed directly on the individual number

or

2. The Split Bet:
A chip can be wagered on any two adjacent numbers, by placing the chip on the line dividing the two numbers.
Note that a chip can also be placed on the line dividing 0 and 1, 0 and 2, 0 and 3.

or

3. The Street Bet:
Street bets cover three numbers.
Place the chip on the outer right boundary line of the roulette table, next to the corresponding row of three numbers.
Note that street bets can also be placed on 0,1, and 2 or 0, 2 and 3.

4. The Corner Bet:

or

5. The Line Bet:
A line bet covers two street bets (i.e. the six different numbers in two rows of three numbers, for example: 7, 8, 9 + 10, 11, 12).
Place the chip on the closest boundary line of the roulette table, where it is intersected by the line dividing the two rows.

Now let's look at The Outside Bets.

6. The Column Bet:
On the short side of the roulette table there are three empty squares.
By placing your chip in one of these boxes, you mark all twelve numbers above it (excluding 0).

7. The Dozen Bet:
You can bet on a group of twelve numbers by placing your chip in one of the three boxes marked P12 (12 Premier, or first dozen, the numbers from 1 to 12), M12 (12 Milieu, or second dozen, the numbers from 13 to 24), and D12 (12 Derniere, or third dozen, the numbers from 25 to 36).

8. Red/Black, Pair/Impair, Manque/Passe Bets (Simple Chances)
